Environmental Benefits
Bamboo can naturally be found throughout much of the world, and has always been a valuable resource for those living around it. Recently, bamboo flooring has become a popular alternative to more traditional flooring methods. Because bamboo can grow up to 24 inches per day, harvested bamboo can be easily replaced, making it one of the most renewable materials available. In addition, because of the variety of climates that bamboo can be grown in, there is potential that bamboo for flooring and other construction purposes could be grown locally, reducing the costs and environmental impact of shipping the material.
Aesthetics
While bamboo offers numerous environmental benfits, there is no need to give up on aesthetics, since many bamboo varieties offer rich colors and grain finer than most woods. There are numerous styles, widths and can be stained to a wide variety of colors to match the needs of the specific project.
Care
Caring for a new bamboo floor is similar to caring for any new wood floor. Bamboo is sensitive to moisture, so cleaning should only involve enough water to get the job done. It's advisable to not use wood polish, wax, or finishes on the floor, since the can cause damage to the surfacing that already exists on the flooring.
