Social Media Websites For Building Backlinks

December 5, 2009

Building links from other websites is a vital step to any web marketing strategy, and a good way to do this is to add websites to popular social bookmarking websites.  Of course all of these offer the possibility of gaining visitors directly from the website which is fantastic, but these websites make it easy to build quality, inbound links from popular websites, which will help your website's pagerank.

Folkd.com
Easy signup, good quality listing of websites.  Easy to add links to my profile.  Good website for bookmarking my important sites, and creating potentially good backlinks.

Faves.com
It seems like websites on faves.com are of pretty high quality.  Signup was easy.  At first, it looked like I needed to install their bookmarking toolbar to add websites, but there is a link at the bottom of the page, 'Fave from Anywhere', which gives you the ability to add websites manually.

Spurl.net

The websites listed on Spurl all seem pretty spammy.  A few legit resources listed, but much of the listings on Suprl.net seem to be only there for the use of website promotion (and for some pretty shady websites).  Of course, thats what we want it for, but ideally we want our site to be listed on respectable websites.  This also requires the installation of their 'favorites' bar, and creating a link to their 'Bookmark' page within my browser.  I couldn't find just a page to add a bookmark on the Spurl website, like you can for many of the other bookmarking websites.
