Using Link Roundups to Generate Traffic

I saw an interesting suggestion on a message board not too long ago--using link roundups to get noticed.  Basically, find some blogs that do a daily, weekly, or general link roundup, email the blog owners with one of your best articles from the time period, and see if you get any quality linkbacks.

Could potentially be a successful strategy for getting quality links, as well as improving a website's page rank.
